Preview:

The August 17, 2024, date of the UFC 305 PPV in Perth, Australia’s RAC Arena (August 18, local time) has been revealed. The main event will feature a fight for the UFC Middleweight Championship between Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis.

With an early preliminary card, the event will begin at 6 PM ET (6 AM ET Local). The main card will start at 10 PM ET (10 AM ET Local), while the preliminary card will begin at 8 PM ET. Main Event PPV in Australia, TNT Sports in the UK, and ESPN+ PPV in the US will all offer the main card. At UFC 305, Dricus du Plessis, defending his middleweight title, will square off against Israel Adesanya in an extremely fantastic matchup that will cap up the UFC’s summer pay-per-view offers.
Luckily, Du Plessis’ hard-fought victory over Strickland cleared the way for this rematch to take place eventually. Perhaps “Stylebender” isn’t deserving of a championship opportunity after being sidelined after Strickland’s loss, but it’s difficult to ignore a story like this when it’s so evidently the fight to be made. Adesanya’s counters are always a worry, but Du Plessis can incorporate shots into his attack. That will make it harder for Adesanya to settle into a planting stance, especially if Du Plessis starts to score from the top position. Similar to how Adesanya manages to get out of those tight quarters, Du Plessis may have success in the clinch thanks to his strength and clubbing strikes.

Du Plessis is a tactical fighter who is underappreciated. The South African berserker attacks all skill levels, works his opponents to exhaustion and skillfully combines kickboxing and wrestling to send his opponents to sleep. Here, being able to combine the martial arts will be crucial. Although Adesanya is undoubtedly the more technically proficient kickboxer, Du Plessis can still be successful on the feet.

Du Plessis can land hard by delaying his inputs with feints and false beginnings, as well as by charging forward with body-head combinations. Establishing the jab to close combinations might also be a wise move, as Robert Whittaker did while facing Adesanya.

One of the best strikers in UFC history is Adesanya. Adesanya overwhelms his opponents with range offense when he can control the distance, making them buckle and almost concede defeat. This fight, for Adesanya, is all about strikes up the middle. When Du Plessis charges forward, his opponent’s intercepting attacks have more impact if they are timed correctly. With his incisive jab, Strickland did well, and Adesanya needs to try to emulate him. But “Stylebender” could also be quite successful when using his knees, uppercut, body jab, and front kick. Adesanya must generally slow down Du Plessis’ offensive output. Hard countershots upstairs or attritional harm, such as body punches, low kicks, and stabbing tips, can be used to do it. In any case, Adesanya needs to give “DDP” a lot to consider to stop the champion’s offensive from getting out of control as the battle goes on. Let’s examine the UFC 305 full lineup and event details.
