The consequences from Double or Nothing 2024 will air as the AEW Dynamite episode on May 29, 2024. At Forbidden Door 2024 PPV, a Casino Gauntlet match will determine the opponent for the AEW World Championship. On Sunday, Swerve Strickland defeated Christian Cage to keep the AEW World Championship. He won’t have long to relax, though, for he will soon find out who his next opponent is to defend the championship at Forbidden Door. Although it’s unclear from AEW’s statement whether any of the NJPW talent will also be vying for the title, Chris Jericho’s current persona in the company plays off a lot of the criticism he’s received from online wrestling fans regarding how well or poorly he uses his experience in the industry to develop young talent. Now dubbed “The Learning Tree,” Jericho loudly proclaims that everyone who ventures inside the Jericho Vortex, friend or foe, emerges from it better.
This sudden shift in gimmick led to Chris winning the FTW championship and Big Bill becoming a new student in “The Redwood.” This past weekend at Double or Nothing, Jericho prevailed over HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata, courtesy of “Bounty Hunter” Bryan Keith. It’s evident that Keith wants to sit under The Learning Tree and reap the benefits of the Jericho Vortex.
